Ubuntu Multicultural Centre CIC Celebrates 5 Years of Impact and Community Support in Middlesbrough Teesside on 24th February

The organisation also supported 126 service users with the Healthy Hearts project by checking blood pressure, weight and electrocardiogram (ECG). Support was provided to 60 elderly people aged 65 and above to combat isolation through sporting activities, specialised expert advice on health and wellbeing topics and home-cooked culturally adapted food.

Through the Sit & Chat – Phone & Chat project, Ubuntu Multicultural Centre supported 1,236 individuals by creating a safe space where service users could sit, chat, and enjoy a cup of tea, thus combating loneliness and improving mental health among community members. Through the Middlesbrough Collaboration for Women and Children project, Ubuntu provided financial aid to 23 women with children to alleviate poverty. Over the past five years, we have secured 25 funded projects through dedication, building trust and confidence within all the communities, particularly among families. This has made a meaningful difference in Gresham, Newport and Teesside.

“Reaching this milestone is a testament to the generosity of our supporters, the dedication of our staff and volunteers, and the resilience of the communities we serve,” said John Baptist Kabuye, Founder/Chair and Board of Directors of Ubuntu Multicultural Centre CIC. “What we started as a small initiative in our kitchen has grown into a highly sought-after community organisation, and we are incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together so far.”

We are excited to announce the launch of free digital literacy training for adults starting in March 2025 with a grant from the Virgin Money Foundation. We would not have achieved this without the unwavering support from our funders, donors, and partners; we send a vote of thanks to them.
